The West Virginia Regional HIT Extension Center (WVRHITEC) has established a new physician-to-physician outreach and education program designed to assist and help foster more widespread adoption and use of electronic health record systems in West Virginia. The program, West Virginia Meaningful Use Vanguard (MUV) Physician Group, provides tech-savvy health care providers who will serve as educators and champions to other primary care providers interested in:
- Learning more about the benefits and “economics” of electronic health record systems;
- Understanding how to use these systems in a meaningful manner (achieving new federal “meaningful use” standards that are being established);
- Gaining insights into helpful workflow changes and efficiency improvements that accompany the digitization of a practice’s medical records;
- Offerings tips and guidance on best practices related to electronic health records and the paperless office environment; and
- Serving as resources when providers have other questions or needs.
These MUV Physician Group members also will assist the WVRHITEC in serving as speakers/presenters, authoring articles, and providing real-world testimonials and anecdotal information.
